Heather Clark, Ph.D.
Research Associate

Dr. Heather Clark is a research associate with the Program on Breast Cancer and Environmental Risk Factors (BCERF) at Cornell University. She received her master's and doctoral degrees in natural resources from Cornell University and her bachelor's degree in political economy of industrial societies (PEIS) from the University of California at Berkeley. As a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences trainee, Heather integrated the study of environmental toxicology with that of risk perception, risk communication, and community involvement to focus her graduate work on the public's understanding of environmental science.

Heather applies her experience to a variety of BCERF's translational research efforts to improve the public's understanding of environmental health risks and cancer. She develops technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, interactive databases, and other resources on cancer risk, environmental fate, and potential for human exposure to environmental chemicals. Heather currently manages a variety of projects on lawn care pesticides and cancer risk. She serves as co-principal investigator of the statewide research and extension project "Turf and Lawn Care Professsionals and Cancer: Improving Communication and Reducing Risk" funded by the US Department of Agriculture's Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (USDA/CSREES).
